About Me

I've been writing for most of my life. "Spotfeet Runs Away," a (very) short illustrated story, was one of my first works, written when I was about 6. Since then I'd like to think I've improved. I got into playwriting, specifically, a couple of years ago, and I've found it to be a form that comes easily to me. I particularly like to write historical plays, plays with poetry and/or heightened language, and plays dealing with existential or psychological issues.

I am a member of the Playwrights' Center of San Francisco, the Pear Playwrights Guild, and the Alliance of Los Angeles Playwrights. I live in San Jose with my husband. I can be reached at bportman@uci.edu.
